The importance of praise in a world of doubt.

Scripture clearly supports the idea that creation itself testifies to a creator.

This idea is logical to me because I also believe in the rest of scripture that points to God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

However, scripture also says that God the Father has never been seen, which has caused doubt among many for centuries, but Jesus said that if we have seen him we have seen the Father.

I want to emphasize that no one needs to convince me of who the creator is, I'm simply acknowledging that the rest of the world has different ideas.

Different religions give credit to false gods.

Some try to take God out of science and establish theories that the earth came into existence by happenstance, suggesting all the complexities of human life just developed slowly over time.

This is why it's so important that we sing praises to God.

Our praise and worship helps give credit where credit is due. It serves as a testimony to people who may never acknowledge that there is a God in Heaven who is over all.

Psalm 22:3 reads,

"Yet You are holy, You who are enthroned upon the praises of Israel."

In context, David is crying out to God for help and acknowledging His holiness, but he doesn't stop there. He chooses to add, “You who are enthroned upon the praises of Israel.”

We believe that our God is enthroned on high, but how will others know?

If I am interpreting the Psalm correctly, our praises are a testimony to others that God is enthroned over all.

Our praises don’t place God on his throne they simply affirm it.

If you have ever wondered why we spend as much time worshipping God through song as we do teaching a message, it is because of this.

Not only is he a good God who evokes praises from us as we recognize his goodness...

It is our honor and responsibly to declare it so that others who don’t recognize his majesty have the opportunity to see a group of people who submit and bow to the Creator of all.

It is an act of humility, but also an act of submission to the fear of the Lord over self sufficiency.

In Luke 19 Jesus tells the Pharisees that the rocks would cry out in worship if people did not.

Our praises are powerful.

When we gather together this week, remember that our praises may open the eyes of others to see a God who is enthroned over all of creation because he has created it all.
